We use Responsibility Reminders at Island View Elementary:
Discipline Policy
The above classroom rules are posted in our room.
We have a "Responsibility Reminder" pocket chart in our classroom. When a student is not following classroom rules, they put a reminder in their pocket.
One verbal warning
Blue reminder -
Warning
Green "Go" - Time
out from activity
Yellow "Slow down" - Miss
recess
Red "STOP" - Teacher
calls home
Positive incentives include:
Positive praise, smelly stickers, etc. for individuals who show responsibility in class.
Points for groups (we have 5) who are ready to learn and have great teamwork behaviors.
Marbles in a can for whole-class achievement. The class decides upon the reward which they have earned.
Behavior certificates are awarded at each trimester to all first graders receiving 4 or less reminders per month.
