Homework Policy

 

At Island View, in the first grade, we assign homework Monday through Thursday.

It is due by the time school begins on the following day. The students put a reward

seal on the Homework Chart for returning completed homework. When they have

5 in a row, they choose a "treasure" (special pencils, erasers, bookmarks,

certificates, etc).

If students have not completed their homework, they bring

the work to Noon Assist after lunch. If parent/guardian emails, phones, or sends

a note to me explaining why homework is not done, the child will have extra time

in which to turn it in. When a student misses school, they are responsible for

completing the homework within a reasonable amount of time.

Homework certificates are rewarded at report card time

for students with 90% return!
